He may be rude, but he also has a very big heart, one that shows when he's rescuing Peri or trying to protect her(though he can be quite inept at that sometimes) and in the audio dramas like Real Time. One can get a glimpse of what could have been in the TV serials had he been given a fair chance instead of being railroaded off and replace with a somewhat mediocre-looking successor.
Six is capable of giving respect, but it must be earned; he will not just blindly respect anyone due to authority or age. To earn his respect, one must respect him as well - his choice of clothing, his personality - everything. He has no use for blind obedience or mindless conformity, and his style and combative personality reflect that.
He is The First Doctor but far more grown up, and his past stages still live on in some way in this incarnation. You can see the cantankerous personality of The First, The Second's tendency to clown around, The Third's dislike for bureaucratic BS, The Fourth's sense of humour and warmth, The Fifth's youth. Everything has been woven together to form a perfectly imperfect Doctor that has to be one of the finest incarnations of the Classic era, and he can be seen somewhat in future incarnations, like when Nine asks a disguised slitheen "Excuse me, would you mind not farting while I'm saving the planet?"
He suffered so long being labeled as 'unlikable' and being blamed for the low ratings when they were likely due to bad writing. Now it's his time to shine. I love Six!

Hear-hear! My list is as follows:
He is, quite simply, unashamed of who he is. I love his "This is who I am, so don't bother trying to change it because you'll fail" approach. His vocabulary was superb! (Also one of the things I like about the Valeyard but that's another post!) As the audio story ...ish points out, his love of language is unrivaled. His unwillingness to tolerate idiocy sat in perfect balance with his compassionate hearts. He sticks to what he thinks. His discomfort when confronted regarding the destruction of Mondas showed that, whatever anyone else thinks, he doesn't like being the Destroyer of Worlds, as RTD called him. His fashion sense speaks for itself. Unwilling to be someone else's puppet, anyone capable of picking this while partially sane shows a distinct disdain for being manipulated. (And any bit of that particular ensemble with "normal" clothes, i.e. Tenth's outfit, would shrivel, die, and generally look like rubbish. Together, it was so horrible it was fantastically awesome.) Dare I say it? He was sort of attractive! Physically as well as intellectually. Just don't tell my mother I said that.

I love the 6th Doctor because he was so unique and exciting at the same time. He was like a super version of the 4th Doctor in some ways with dashes of docs 1-3 as well.
I especially loved his costume(I wouldn't be caught dead wearing it.)but I still loved it,especially the coat.
I wish they let colin stayed on for the rest of the series or at least one more season,it would've been cool to see more of colin as the Doctor.
